FAQs
-
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is someone who is well-studied and knowledgeable in the science of behavior, otherwise known as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Requirements to becoming certified include obtaining a master’s degree, collecting 1,500+ fieldwork hours in a clinical or educational setting, and passing the Behavior Analyst Certification Board exam.
BCBAs work closely with families, medical teams, and educational staff to improve appropriate behaviors and address behavioral concerns that are negatively affecting a child’s safety and wellbeing.
-
Our BCBAs use principles of ABA therapy to help families during the consultation process, however this is not 1:1 ABA therapy. Your BCBA will be working directly with you as the caregiver, not with your child. Our consultation services can be compared with typical parent training services that usually comes with insurance-based 1:1 ABA therapy.
Our focus is on equipping parents and caregivers with the knowledge and resources needed to support their child.

After filling out the form at the top of this page, a member of Behavioral Basics will reach out shortly to schedule an initial intake meeting (typically 15 minutes long) and start the onboarding process.
Onboarding includes an initial assessment conducted by a BCBA via telehealth. The initial assessment involves a 1-hour observation of your child and a written treatment plan with individualized goals.
-
Behavioral Basics offers virtual telehealth meetings with BCBAs who will work with you and your child in achieving their goals and overcoming behavioral barriers. Meetings also include training on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Functional Communication Training (FCT), and other research-backed methods to helping your child learn and grow.
After the initial onboarding and assessment process has been completed, you will meet with your consulting BCBA on a regular basis. We can accommodate a variety of schedules, including weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly consultation meetings.
The duration of your consultation meetings may vary depending on your needs, and these meetings may range from 15 minutes to 1 hour.

Your initial intake meeting is free. We know how difficult it can be to get connected with a quality provider, and we don’t want cost to keep you from reaching out.
Initial assessments are $250, and bi-annual assessments are $150.
Consultation sessions are $150/hour, or $37.50 per 15 minutes.

Unfortunately we do not take insurance at this time.
We operate as a private pay service provider, which allows us to provide you with personalized, flexible services tailored to your family's unique needs without the constraints of insurance requirements.

Families and caregivers are typically assigned to whoever is currently available to take new clients. During the first intake meeting, we will determine if there are any available BCBAs who meet your preferences, and we will do our best to match you with someone we believe would be a good fit for your child’s needs.
Typically the BCBA who conducts the initial assessment will be your first consulting BCBA with Behavioral Basics.
If at any point during consultation you wish to be reassigned to a new BCBA, we will work with you to switch providers as soon as a new BCBA becomes available.
